Makeup brushes can house millions of bacteria and a buildup of makeup residue if you don't take care of them properly. Clean your makeup brushes at least once a week.
Natural hair makeup brushes can be cleaned with hair shampoo. Use hair conditioner to make them softer. Synthetic makeup brushes can be cleaned with liquid dish soap. Make sure they are rinsed well. To dry them, just use a clean paper towel and flat dry.
You can also buy makeup brush cleaner at most beauty or drug stores and use it to clean your brushes. But most makeup brush cleaners are not good for your brushes because they contain alcohol. You can use products with alcohol sometimes, but if you use them all the time, you will damage your brushes as alcohol dissolves the glue that holds the bristles to the brush itself.
Never soak your makeup brushes in water or any other liquid, because water or any other liquids can loosen the glue and harm the wooden handle. The best way to clean the brushes is to put a little bit of hair shampoo or soap in your hand, than gently swirl the bristles of the brush in the soap, and rinse the bristles under warm running water.
If you're in a hurry and need to reuse the brush immediately, use hand sanitizer to clean your brush. Hand sanitizer will kill germs and dry faster.
